There will be a cultural show in which the leading lights of the industry will participate.
The legend of Indian cinema —Amitabh Bachchan — will be the chief guest at the function organised to felicitate the CM for allocating land to people connected with the industry. There will be no shoots or film functions held on that day. Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan have confirmed their participation in the show. What’s more, the organisers are trying to rope in a host of Kollywood stars, most of whom will perform on stage.
Kamal Haasan will stage a play on the occasion which will feature other Kollywood actors too. Veteran lyricist Vaali has penned a song about Kalaignar Karunanidhi which has been set to tune by Harris Jayaraj and will be sung by top singers in the industry. The presence of top stars and their active participation in the event have been made compulsory. The actresses have been informed that they must perform either dance numbers or skits on stage.
Top heroines including Tamannaah, Trisha, Nayanthara, Shriya, Reemma will be performing on the same stage for the first time. The buzz in the filmi circuit is that Prabhu Deva and Nayanthara are all set to scorch the stage with a sizzling performance. Rehearsals for the grand event have already begun and those on shoot outside the city have been told to come to Chennai by this evening. Producers and directors shooting outside Chennai have been asked to wind up their schedules and relieve the artistes two days prior to the event.
A spokesperson for the organisers said, “It is going to be the red carpet event of the decade. Kalaignar has done more for the industry than any other politician or administrator. We owe him a lot and it is high time that we did something to felicitate him in a grand manner. Mr Bachchan readily agreed to be the chief guest and the main speaker for the event because he felt no other Chief Minister of any state has done so much for the cause of film workers and the industry.” Source: timesofindia.indiatimes.com
