TOP 10 HEROINES IN TAMIL Kollywood 1.Tamannah

The lady with the Midas touch, at least for the moment. The last couple of years have been a dream run for this actress. She has done movies opposite almost all the leading young heroes of the industry, she has landed hit after hit, climbed up the popularity charts and is currently setting the trends for others to follow. This year has already seen her having two major releases, Paiyaa and Sura and two more might follow before the year ends. Things would never have looked so rosy for Tamannah, who has also proved her mettle as an actress of substance in the early phase of her career with films like Kalloori.

2. Trisha

VTV seems to have given her a fresh start. Not that she was doing too badly before VTV happened. But, there is definitely a change in perception since the Gautham Menon movie happened. Even before that Trisha had started showing her intentions of changing from the completely commercial track towards roles that offered her more than just the mundane stuff; Abhiyum Naanum was the beginning. But, she has not given up on the commercial varieties as yet. Waiting to happen next is perhaps the biggest move in her career, a movie opposite Kamal with KSR at the helm. It does not get bigger.

3.Asin

She was the hit maiden of Kollywood for almost three years on the trot. It was as if she couldn’t put a foot wrong with films like Ghajini, Pokkiri and the huge Dasavatharam. But, Bollywood beckoned and she had to take a break from Tamil. But, if she is in the scheme of things even after nearly two years of absence, that only goes to show how much of an impact she has had during her time here. Now she is back in Kaavalkaran with Vijay and hopefully there is more to come. Let’s hope for the best.

4. Nayanthara

Well, she has never had any dearth of big projects. Who gets the chance of starring in three consecutive Superstar films, however small the role may be? But, the problem that she faced during certain junctures was that most of her big projects seemed to be turning turtle at the box office. The tide seems to have been stemmed a bit with Aadhavan and she now seems to be in a relatively slow phase of her career with Boss Engira Baskaran opposite Arya on the anvil. But, all that could change very soon. Hopefully, she gets the right kind of opportunities henceforth and also manages to avoid the glamour trap.

5. Shriya Saran

Sivaji was the crescendo, and nothing has come close to it as yet. Right from the Superstar to his son-in-law, she has worked with the entire spectrum of stars in the industry, save a few. But, the last couple of years have left her starved for genuine hits, in spite of having worked with quite a few big banners and stars. But, one never knows when the turnaround in about to happen and it could well be with the Arya starrer Chikku Bukku or with Jiiva in Rowthiram. It is only a matter of time before she gets over her relatively lean patch. To her credit, her dancing skills seem to be a few notches above the other leading ladies in the industry at the moment.

6.Anushka

She was so busy in Telugu that she hardly could find any time for Tamil. But, the success of Arundhathee did the trick. Kollywood wooed this actress who had proved her worth and thus Vettaikaran happened. Singam is now ready to roar and there is Vada Chennai to look forward to. That’s two big releases within a year which is definitely great progress for an actress whose only previous Tamil film was Rendu, way back in 2006. She surely seems to have all that it takes to stay in the top rung, the only question being whether Tollywood will leave her with enough time to do so.

7. Sneha

She has been around for quite a while now and still is one of the busiest leading ladies going around. She is one of the few actresses to have quite a number of meaty roles to her credit, like the ones in Pallikkoodam and Pirivom Sandhippom. Even though she seems to have a high level of popularity with the audiences and proven skills on all fronts, a blockbuster that can place her in the top league, in reckoning for those big projects is yet missing. Her mysterious character in Goa has added a new dimension to her career and with roles like Bhavani IPS and many other films in her kitty, the times are only looking to get better for this actress.

8. Priyamani

The National Award winning actress has been sauntering through a bevy of flicks, but is still in search of a role that will let her live up to the promise created by Muthalagu. She might not be having the biggest of projects or hits, but is definitely one of the busiest going around at this point of time. And, her ticket to the top of the ladder might be here in 2010 with Raavan and Raktha Charithra. Not only will these be films under master craftsmen Mani Ratnam and Ram Gopal Varma respectively, they will also introduce her to Bollywood. There is little doubt that quite a few things are waiting to happen in this actress’ career very shortly.

9.Genelia

We have not seen her much since the bubbly Hasini of Santhosh Subramaniam graced screens nearly two years back. Hindi and Telugu have kept her busy with quite a few good projects. But, she has done well enough during her time down south to remain in the minds of audiences and directors. The effervescent screen presence and cute appeal are her greatest strengths and she seems to know extremely well how to play to those points of strengths. She will be reaffirming her presence in Kollywood this year with Uthama Puthiran

10. Sameera Reddy

After quite a few years in Bollywood, this lady finally made her debut in Tamil as the classy Meghna in Vaaranam Aayiram. She seems to have leapfrogged directly into the big league, considering the stars that she has been paired up with in her first two movies. It is not very common for an actress to make her debut opposite Suriya and then follow it up with one opposite Ajith. But then, to be fair, she deserves the credit for making her opportunities count and now she is currently working in Gautham Menon’s quickie and seems all set to feature in another flick of Menon’s also which will be Ajith’s 50th film. One cannot get luckier than this. So, Sameera is going great guns. How far will she go? Too early to say!

Debutant director K P P Naveen speaks about Nellai Sandhipu

Director K P P Naveen while speaking about his film Nellai Sandhipu said,” The story of this film is about a fake encounter and the problems that arise in the family.

We are making this film as a wholesome family film. Through this film we are introducing a new face Rohit as hero. Devika is pairing with him. She had acted as a flower seller in the film Vaalmiki. Mega Nair is another heroine of this film. Director Raja is donning an important role in this film. Meera Krishnan is donning the role of the heroe’s mother.

Nadodigal Lakshmi and Devaraj are also starring in this film. To act as encounter specialists, three actors were required. So I selected producer P L Thenappan, director Saravana Subbiah and Sami Dev. I chose Thenappan for the role of the villain because of his eyes and his pan chewing habit.

Initially he refused to act. He was very stubborn. But somehow I forced him to do the role. In the similar way I had to force the other two to act in these roles. The highlight of this film is about the cinematographer Sevilo Rajan who had handled the camera for Em Magan has handled the camera for this film. He has used two types of color for this film.
He has used one color for the family sequences and another color for the encounter scenes. He was always shooting the whole film with the camera on his shoulders. He has not used the stand even for one scene. Yugendaran who is the son of Malaysia Vasudevan has composed the music for the film. Andal Priyadarshini, Eknath and Nellai Bharathi have penned the lyrics.”

It’s a fact of commonality between these happening hunks of Kollywood. Gone are those days, where it was Lord Rama being praised and now ‘Raavana’ seems to have become the duckiest character of universal masses.Manifestly, Manirathnam’s film title ‘Raavana’ has kept everyone uttering the word on lips. Preferably, it’s Vikram – The Raavana guy, who has been ardently addressed with this character name often in town now.But, then what’s connecting Aarya with this factor? Aarya’s yesterday Telugu release ‘Varudu’ is all about the modernized tale of mythological book of ‘Ramayana’. The entire marriage takes place just as that of Lord Rama for 5 days and on the spur of moment, the bride is kidnapped by a baddie (played by Aarya). Rest of the film is about his upheavals and how the good wins over bad.It circuitously offers an idea whether Vikram’s role would be the same as Aarya in ‘Raavana’. But Manirathnam has been a genius with rational thoughts of delivering what you never expect.

‘Endhiran’ shooting is finally over! Endhiran in 3D

'Endhiran' is one of the most expensive Indian films produced.
Rajini does the dual role of a robot that has human emotions and also the scientist who creates this robot. Aishwarya Rai plays the role of Nila opposite Rajini. The dog Gino has an important role in the film. Prominent Bollywood villain Danny, Karunaas and Santhanam for comedy are some of Rajini’s new team members in the film.
After 2 years, 'Endhiran' shooting is finally over. Director Shankar writes about this in his blog.
"The final schedule of 'Endhiran' shooting has been completed successfully. I have now started on the editing. During the final shooting schedule, 2 lovely things happened. One is the song AR Rehman composed for the last part of ‘Endhiran.’ The recording is going on now. Another is the audio release of 'Rettaisuzhi' by Aishwarya. One portion of this film is being made into 3D".

Azhagana Ponnuthan – Tamil Movie Review

Director Thiru (not the one who directed ‘Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai’) with Namitha in the company has dished out a glamourous entertainer that would obviously woo his target audience – the youngsters.
The filmmaker seems to have been inspired heavily by ‘Summer of 42′, a 1971 classic directed by Robert Mulligan. But for Namitha, as promised by the promos, ‘Azhagana Ponnuthan’ has nothing big to offer to movie-goers.
In a nutshell, the movie is about a youth who loves a woman older to him one-sided. Though it is a bold theme considering the society that we live, the narration takes away all the sheen. A cliched presentation and predictable characterisation mars the flow of the film.
Namitha is the saving grace as she appears in flaunting costumes, dances and eventually provides loads of advices too.Parthiban appears in the very first reel recollecting his travails with a woman whom he had developed an affinity in his teens.
A flashback takes one to Kodaikanal where Karthik (Karteesh) falls instantly for a gorgeous woman called Jennifer (Namitha), who is older to him. She is admired and respected by everyone, especially men.
It is all but Karthik’s wild imagination is the rest. Karthik sings duets with Jennifer and runs behind her. However in the latter half, he goes into a shell brooding over his love and beloved. Twists and turns reveal that Jennifer’s husband has died in the Indo-Pak war of 1971. What happens then forms the climax.
Namitha has tried to shed her glamdoll image and perform in the movie. But a weak narration by Thiru gives no place for it. The commercial elements gives the movie a different colour, which unfortunately doesn’t work. The young Karteesh reminds one of ‘Kadhal Kondein’ Dhanush at many a place. Parthiban needs to be applauded for taking the guts to do such a role. A couple of songs by Sundar C Babu are hummable.
On the whole, Thiru has provided a bold theme that may work wonders with front-benchers.

If ‘Veyil’ was all about contrastive scenarios of triumphs and failures in the lives of two brothers, he’s back with a powerful bang in ‘Angadi Theru’, which speaks about the other side of T. Nagar.
It’s been more off clichés, where our film protagonists head from their villages to Chennai seeking for fortune and indeed fetch it. But Vasantha Balan takes us through a journey with anguishes of youngsters in textile showrooms of Chennai, whose lives are downtrodden and quite pathetic.
Abuse and oppression is what these salespersons are exposed to and how the lead characters survive the badgerings has been well depicted in ‘Angadi Theru’.
But anything in excess is too difficult to handle, isn’t? In simple terms, ‘Angadi Theru’ is an excess baggage of overdosed emotions and pathos.
An unexpected demise of his father in an accident leaves Jyothi Lingam (Mahesh) desolated. Drenched in a high-risk situation, Lingam leaves to Chennai along with his friend Maarimuthu as they get employed in the one of the biggest textile showrooms in T. Nagar. But life isn’t easy as they expected as hundreds of salesmen and women are prone to inhumanity like reducing a rupee for every minute they’re late to office. Girls are molested if they’re found playing during business time.
On the different segments, we are introduced to various characters of a lame husband and wife, an underprivileged person’s sudden change of fortune with a public toilet.
Every character has its own joyousness, upheavals and how they overcome it….Hard-hitting dialogues penned by Jaya Mohan impinges straight into your heart, sometimes wrenches it.
Especially, the perfect reason behind lame man’s wife on giving birth to a handicapped child leaves you stunned. Of course, it deserves a grand round of applause. Vasantha Balan has to thank his technicians for the ability of discerning his motives.
Richard’s cinematography is sharp, exquisite and elegant and the shots captured through hidden cameras have been done awesomely. Vijay Anthony’s ‘Aval Appadi’ is dulcetly resplendent while his background score could’ve been better.
On the performance level, newcomer Magesh has put forth his best efforts, emoting with right momentums. His simplistic comeliness over the screens is appreciable while his outbursts at valid situations are commendable. Anjali comes up with an overpoweringly stunning performance as her overall acting will win her accolades. The others in supporting roles including director A. Venkatesh as the cruel manager have done justice to their roles.
Valuating this film maybe an indifferent situation as it has lots of appreciable factors and on pars, certain emotions that are too heavy to perceive. Doubtlessly, ‘Angadi Theru’ will be prove its high-quality contents amongst single screens and down south audiences while for those moviegoers planning to kill their time, this isn’t a right option.
What works: Jayamohan’s dialogues, director’s ability to present a drama at same backdrop of a textile showroom, performance levels of all star-casts…
What didn’t work: Extended climax with unnecessary pathos, background score, lengthy second half and lots of loud outcries.

Well, we are not talking about any legal issues Cheran is facing. But the actor-director is these days a regular visitor to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office in Chennai thanks to one of his professional commitments, we hear.
Cheran, who is playing the role of a CBI officer in a film directed by Mysskin (which is supposedly a sequel to 'Anjathey'), is visiting the CBI office to study the workstyle there, reports say.
"Since he wants to give a realistic touch to the role, he is observing the working pattern of CBI officers without affecting their routine. This, he thinks, would go a long way while performing in front of camera," it is said.
It is to be noted that Suriya was in constant touch with a couple of top police officers while shooting 'Kaakha Kaakha' and Sneha with a senior cop for 'Bhavani', a sequel to 'Vaijayanthi IPS'.

‘Aattanayagan’ is an experiment: Shakthi

It was a grand function in Chennai on Wednesday when the audio of ‘Aattanayagan’, a film starring Shakthi in the lead role, was launched in the presence of big guns of Tamil film industry.
The first copy of the audio CD was released by Tamil Film Producers Council president Rama Narayanan which was received by Sun Pictures chief operations officer Hansraj Saxena.
A visibly happy Shakthi said, “Aattanayagan will be totally different. It is a film sans any punch dialogues and hero worship. Everyone can relate themselves to the script. In short, the film is a new experiment.”
Directed by Krishnaram, the film produced by K Muralidharan, V Swaminathan and T S Rangarajan for Lakshmi Movie Makers (I) Ltd has musical score by Srikanth Deva.
Others who had attended the function were producers Anbalaya Prabhakaran, Sivasakthi Pandian, FEFSI chief V C Guhanathan, Distributors Associaton president Kalaipuli G Sekaran, Theatre Owners Association chief Abirami Ramanathan, directors K S Ravikumar, Vikraman, actors Prasanna, Sibiraj, RK, Anuja Iyer and heroine of the film Ramya Nambeesan.

Ochayee is a Tamil film that is being produced under the banner Aachi Kizhavi Thirai Koodam by Thiravi Pandian. The film has newbies Dhaya and Thamatai in the lead roles. Azhagana Ponnu is a film which has Namitha in the lead role and directed by Thiru. This film was released recently. Since Namitha did not cooperate properly, the producer has incurred a heavy loss.

Director Thiru while speaking to the media about this matter said,” The film Azhagana Ponnu was started three years back. The story of the film is about a youth who is not handsome who falls in love with a beautiful girl. I met Namitha in person and narrated the story. Since she had no films in her hand at that time, she agreed to act in this film. An heavy amount was given to her as an advance. After the pooja, we commenced the shooting at Kodaikanal after six months.
But after acting for few days she returned to Chennai. I reported this matter to the Producers Council. When they enquired Namitha about this, she said that I did not know how to direct. Immediately, I screened the film which I had so far shot. After seeing the film she said that she is scared of me. She was giving contradictory statements.

Had she quit this film at that time itself, the producer’s money would have been saved. After commencing the shooting, Namitha never cooperated. She did not even respect me. Even if I ask her to laugh, she will not laugh. I have to speak to her standing at a distance of 10 feet. When I asked her what her problem was, she said that she did not like the boy with whom she was acting.

I had to explain to her the story itself is about a boy who has no beauty. He falls in love with a beautiful girl. After convincing her, she started acting. I had taken 35 days call sheet from Namitha to act in this film. But she had acted for 25 days only. She refused to act after 25 days. Because of this I was not able to make the film as I thought.

I had really kept another climax for this film. Since Namitha refused to give the call sheet, I had to change the climax. The duration of this film was two hours twenty five minutes but it was reduced to one hour fifty eight minutes. The reason for this reduction is because of Namitha. The producer has incurred loss to the tune of Crores of rupees because of Namitha.
Namitha has finished me and the producer. She has made us weep. She had punished us for no reason. Definitely God will punish her.”

Since I did not know Sanskrit I gave up the idea of this and joined another college and did my visual communication course. At that time a Channel Reality show took place in my college. I participated in this show. A Malayalam film director who saw me in this show asked me whether I was willing to act in his film.

Initially I refused to act. But since he was repeatedly requesting me, I utilized this opportunity. The title of this film was Positive. This is how I made my entry into the films.

My world consisted of my town, friends and college. I knew only these things. I never knew any other culture. But after coming into cinema, I learnt a lot of thing about of cinema and still continue to learn. With regard to how I acted in Nadodigal was initially after seeing my film which I had acted, did not want me because I was fat.
Later on Samudrakani when he came to Kerala wanted to meet me. I had gone to see Evergreen function. Samudrakani had also come for this function. I was wearing ordinary dress without any make up. Since I was chirpy, Samudrakani found that I would be suitable for the role in Nadodigal and selected me. He asked me to come to Chennai after two days. The shooting of the film commenced the very next day after my arrival”

The ‘commercial’ never goes out of vogue and Kacheri Aarambam is out to prove that. Jiiva is coming out with yet another no-holds-barred entertainer, the kind he took up since 2008, starting with Thenavattu and followed up with SMS in 2009. We don’t know if he has left the hard-hitting offbeat genre behind him, but let us not discuss that now; let’s enjoy the ‘Kacheri ’ that is on offer. R.B. Choudhary and Super Good Films are names associated with neat and clean family entertainers. But, this time, a different route has been chosen in the form of Kacheri Aarambam. It will be a departure of sorts for the production house from familiar territory. Starring Jiiva and Poonam Bajwa (coming together after Thenavattu), the movie is, as the trailers would have suggested already, an unapologetic entertainer with all commercial ingredients. There is going to be loads of fun on screen. And, that is as much as the director Thiraivanna was willing to reveal. J.D. Chakravarthy, the understated and stone-faced

villain from Sarvvam, will be playing the lead antagonist in the movie. This time, he won’t be calm, quiet and menacing; he will be outspoken, loud and impulsive, like a true Kollywood commercial villain. It will be interesting to see how this kind of a role suits him. Comedy is going to be one major ingredient of this Kacheri . And, a new comic pairing is being tried on screen this time. Jiiva has proved his eye and timing for comedy with artistes like Vivek, Santhanam and Ganja Karuppu, but his sternest test might be this one, a pairing with Vadivelu. The combination has reportedly worked extremely well and is sure to bring the house down. Vadivelu is said to have taken special efforts to ensure that the comic scenes are topnotch. The prediction is that the Vadivelu-Jiiva combination might gain as much mileage as the famous Vadivelu-Parthiban combo. Let’s see. Music for Kacheri has been composed by D Imman and the focus seems to be undeniably on fun and energy. Technically too there are things to watch out for in Kacheri . One song has been shot with the ‘1000 frames’ technique which will consist of 1000 individual frames in one second. This technology is supposed to increase clarity, resolution and capture even the slightest movements. This technology has never been used before in Indian cinema and it sure will be interesting to watch the results. Let’s hope that this Kacheri rocks. Let the concert begin.

Apart from scoring the music, the actor will take care of story, screenplay and dialogues departments of this comedy movie, which will be directed by Irudhayaraj, a newcomer. Besides, he will also play an important role in it.
“I was initially a singer. I had performed in many stage shows before becoming an actor. I am scoring music for ‘Thandachoru’ with this experience and hopeful that my songs would be liked by one and all,” says Livingston.

A R Rahman is attempting something which no music composer in Tamil cinema has perhaps not tried so far. The Oscar and Grammy winner will soon bring out a coffee table book, showcasing his work and colleagues from ‘Roja’ to ‘Raavan’.
Renowned photographer and director of K M C Conservatory backed by Rahman, T Selvakumar, has begun shooting for the book, which will feature new photographs of the Mozart of Madras and musicians who had worked with him so far.
The book will also have some pages dedicated to Sridhar, a sound engineer very close to Rahman who is no more, we learn. Says Selvakumar, “We are conducting a fresh photo shoot and no old photographs will be used.”
The book, to be published by Rahman Foundation, is expected to be released by the end of 2010. “Rahman is keen on the project because he wants to place on record singers and others who had worked with him, whom he thinks as the secret of his success,” sources say.

Preposterous aping of Mel Gibson’s ‘Apocalypto’ and Fernando Meirelles’ ‘City of God’ in the backdrops of Madurai has turned to be the most illustrious mantra of some filmmakers in Kollywood. Let’s not get on about exemplifications as there have been more than dozens of flicks churned out with this genre.
‘Maathiyosi’ focalizes on 4 young ruffians – Pandian (Harish), Ona (Gopal), Maanga (Alex), Maari (Lokesh) belonging to lower caste community, residing in suburbs of Madurai. The very first shot lets us exasperated as the boys hunt down on a pig for their feast (Apocalypto’s prologue). Later sequences exposes about their conflicts with high class community, cops and their journey to Chennai. Over there, an unexpected encounter with a girl (Shammu) changes their course of life with a very much foreseeable narration in latter half.
When few filmmakers get along for a self-aggrandizing talk that their nativity films will be proclaimed all over the world, they’ll have to make sure that the concept and contents are fresh and credible. It’s all about inviting ridicule as they copycat the action sequences from foreign films and fritter away with producers.
The film hasn’t got a single attribute to appreciate about. Over-dosed linguistic touch of Madurai Tamil, guys roaming without shirts (just like Africans) just for the sake of depicting dark-complexion and enhance the feel-like-Latin American films. The characterizations are so bleak and precisely caricatured. Why do all the women utter with a peculiar slang of arrogance? Sparring Ponvannan, none of the actors live up to the expectations and Ravi Mariah’s peculiar role doesn’t evoke our interests.
Technically, the film doesn’t afford to score a single star for its bleached grading of every shot. Guru Kalyan tries to be an Ilayaraja on all quotients, which is a mere inconsistency.
Finally, ‘Maathiyosi’ doesn’t offer anything special and can be regarded as a below-average film that lacks substantiality on every quotient.
What works: Ponvannan and some witty dialogues
What doesn’t work: Almost everything on technical and narrative aspects.
Verdict: Stumbles down rapidly…

But, the screenplay has been handled in such a way that there are twists at regular intervals which prevent monotony from setting in. The girl (Sunaina) falls in love with her neighbor (debutante Sachin). But, she is unable to convey her love to him. And, she leaves it until too late. Something done by the boy with pretty innocent intentions are construed as an unscrupulous act which leads to a big misunderstanding between the two. The love story, which might have just

begun to bloom, is nipped in the bud. But, destiny is not ready to finish this story just as yet. Even after the boy and girl are separated emotionally and geographically, a rather coincidental turn of events makes them come across each other once again. Time heals the earlier misunderstanding. Does love bloom again? At the outset, Yathumaagi is a simple love story and the good thing about it is that the movie does not try to do too much else. But, there are problems. The most important fact is that the romance of the lead pair does not seem to have that special feeling when depicted on screen. In an out-and-out romantic flick, this can be a big weakness. Also, the twists that crop up at regular intervals, though helpful in keeping the viewer guessing, seem a bit forced and familiar at times. There is a bit of déjà vu at points in the movie, reminding us of the many melodramatic love stories that we have seen over the years. But, there are no glaring similarities to any movie of the past. Having said that, one cannot accuse the movie of boring the viewer for too long at any point of time. However, the one thing that can prove to be an absolute irritant is Riyaz Khan’s character. At the start of the movie, one thinks that he is a significant player in the story. But, when things are revealed, one feels frustrated and cheated beyond redemption. The character looks like one forced into the script just to keep the viewer guessing about the various probabilities. A few scenes here and there look unfinished and disjointed. But, overall, one cannot deny the ‘feel good’ factor that emanates to an extent from this love story. Sunaina is a perfect fit for the character that she plays, a simple girl from an orthodox family. She looks good on screen and emotes well. Sachin too is a good choice for the role though there is not much scope for him to prove his histrionic potential. He will need a few more good roles to establish his potential. Apart from these two characters, others look like fringe players in the movie and do not have too much of a bearing. Technically, the movie passes muster. The camera does justice to the needs of the movie. The music too is adequate, but could have been placed and used better in the movie. Picturisation of all songs is pretty good, though not delightful. Two of them, Yaarodu Yaaro and Kaadhala stand out. Yathumaagi is a simple love story with twists regularly interspersing the narrative that keeps one alert. But, the relatively relaxed pace of narration, non-electric chemistry of the lead pair and a few forced additions like Riyaz Khan’s character are dampeners. But, debutante director Balakumar must be commended on giving a neat and clean movie without too many extraneous elements like comedy tracks or glamour.

When most of the recent works penned by Kalainyar M. Karunanidhi weren’t visualized with perfection over the screens, director Bali Srirangam makes sure that ‘Pen Singam’ surpasses on such technical arenas with excellence.
‘Pen Singam’ is produced by N. Jaya Murugan under the banner of J. Nandini Arts featuring Udhay Kiran, Meera Jasmine, Richard, Radha Ravi and ‘Thalaivaasal’ Vijay in lead roles. With major portion of the film being canned in Chennai, a stupendous stunt sequence of climax was shot across the outskirts of Chennai near the ports of Ennore.
Apart from these leading actors, Vivek, Riteesh M.P, Sudarsana Sen, Rambha, Rohini, Sriranjini, Vaagai Chandrasekar, Nizhalgal Ravi, Madan Pop, O.A.K. Sundar and many others have performed prominent roles.
Art Director Sagu had erected grand sets for a song that features choreographer-actor Raghava Lawrence and Lakshmi Rai shaking legs together. P.C. Sriram’s assistant Vijay Ragav has cranked the camera. Apart from this, couple of duet songs penned by Kalainyar Karunanidhi has been pictured in the backdrops of foreign locales.

P.C.Sriram joins hands with Simbu

‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’ has brought in marked changes in the way Silambarasan was looking at life. After working with Gautham Menon, Silambarasan wants to ensure he brings in a sophisticated class act in everything he does.
So he voluntarily approached the master of lights PC Shriram to work for him in his directorial venture ‘Vaaliban’. PC Shriram is very selective in accepting new projects and never accepts work for new directors. But Silambarasan managed to convince the veteran and how?
Siilambarasan went to PC Sriram and said that he is a great fan of Sriram’s photography and is dying to work for a film by him. Moved by Simbu’s sincere request the camera legend agreed to do the film even before asking for the story. PC Sriram whose earlier commitment ‘24’ by Vikram K. Kumar was dropped also had the time.

‘Vaaliban’ is produced by SS Charavarthy. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film is getting ready to be a very big project and the team is planning to shoot a patriotic song with a lot of national flags in scene as it was done for the AR Rahman’s ‘Vande Matharan’ album.
